Lighthouse Young Authors Collective
Free weekly writers' group for teens at Lighthouse Writers Workshop in Denver where students exchange written pieces and give and receive feedback. Drop-in academic support and writing groups are also available year-round, with a special focus on LGBTQIA+ teens and young people of color.

Free pathway program at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus that exposes 9th-12th grade scholars to research, STEAM, and health-care careers through workshops, mentoring, and campus visits.
Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado – High School Conservation Leadership
Nine-month conservation leadership program for Front Range high school students (ages 14-18) led by adult volunteer mentors. Includes comprehensive training in trail building, ecological restoration, chainsaw certification, and wilderness first aid, plus regular hands-on stewardship projects on Colorado public lands.
Arapahoe Rescue Patrol
All-volunteer search and rescue organization in Arapahoe County, Colorado, composed entirely of high school students who provide free search, rescue, and emergency services since 1957. Members complete 100+ hours of basic training (including 24 classroom hours and two 48-hour weekend field sessions) followed by a 6-month probationary period, then respond to rock climbing rescues, winter and avalanche operations, wilderness first aid, and support local law enforcement and fire departments. Recruiting opens in spring.
Children's Hospital Colorado Junior Volunteer Program
Year-round and summer volunteer opportunities for teens 13-18 at Children's Hospital Colorado, with a six-month minimum commitment of three hours per week. Volunteers support hospital departments and family events; outstanding volunteers are recognized with two $2,500 Junior Volunteer Recognition Scholarships annually.
